Summer 2010 Dear Friends, Neighbors and Citizens of the 38th Representative District: June 1st, the Delaware General Assembly begins the countdown to the end of the 145th Legislative Session. The days of June will be quite busy in terms of reviewing and then passing bills by the House and Senate with the final step being the signing of these bills into law by the Governor. This is also the time that the Budget for FY 2011 is completed, along with the Bond Bill (Capital Infrastructure) and brought to the General Assembly for passage. Balancing the Budget and funding key projects are still a major concern by the Joint Finance Committee. Due to the summer season and the final days of session, I will be suspending my “Coffees”. I do intend to begin the meetings again in September. I do urge all of you to feel free to contact me at anytime or if you have trouble reaching me, please contact my local office at 537-6016 or my Legislative Assistant, Margaret Dean at 744-4267 in Legislative Hall in Dover. I am pleased to report that many positive actions are taking place in the 38th District. I urge you to check out the Indian River Inlet Bridge website. The project is progressing according to plan and is on schedule. This has been a very long and arduous journey but I feel strongly that the results of the current project will serve the needs of our area admirably. The dredging of the Assawoman Canal is expected to be completed by early fall. This project will be of great benefit to many of our citizens and visitors. I am also happy to report that the new pavilion being built at Holt’s Landing is nearing completion and that the newly remodeled boat ramp at Holt’s Landing is open and ready to accommodate our boating enthusiasts. Best wishes to each of you for safe, enjoyable and healthy summer. Our community will soon be changing to resort town and with that comes many challenges. I urge each of you to maintain your patience and take time to enjoy the beauty and the natural wonders of our area. As always thank you for your support and your suggestions and input. The information you share with me is very valuable as I represent your interests in Dover. Yours truly, Gerald W. Hocker
